Missing Out on Life

How long are you going to wait for your kidney stone to pass?

Kidney stones can cause pain that comes and goes without warning. If your stone isn’t passing, keeps coming back, or may need treatment, non-surgical lithotripsy may be an option to break it up and help you move forward.

What Causes Kidney Stones?

Kidney stones form when minerals in the urine harden into small crystals. Some stones pass on their own, while others can get stuck, keep causing pain, or become too large to pass comfortably.

When that happens, treatment may be needed to break the stone into smaller pieces or remove it safely. Triangle Lithotripsy helps patients understand whether non-surgical lithotripsy may be the right next step.

Welcome to Triangle Lithotripsy

Triangle Lithotripsy Corporation is committed to the principles of trust, ethics, and integrity, which have guided our mission since 1989. Founded with a dedication to improving patient care, we specialize in lithotripsy, the only non-invasive medical procedure used to treat kidney stones.

Our journey began with a vision to offer a compassionate and effective solution for those suffering from kidney stones. Over the years, we have grown significantly, and by 2010, we were proudly treating more than 100 patients each month. This growth is a testament to the trust our patients and urologists have placed in us.

Triangle Lithotripsy Corporation helps patients access non-invasive ESWL kidney stone treatment through local hospitals and medical centers across the Research Triangle area.

What is Lithotripsy?

Extracoporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, or ESWL, uses targeted sound waves to break kidney stones into smaller fragments that may pass naturally.

How to Schedule Care

Treatment begins with your physician or urologist. Ask your doctor if lithotripsy is appropriate for your kidney stone size, location, and symptoms.

Know the Symptoms

Kidney stone symptoms may include sharp side or back pain, pain while urinating, blood in the urine, nausea, vomiting, fever, or chills.

Kidney stones are miserable. Waiting them out can be worse.

Non-Invasive Kidney Stone Treatment

Lithotripsy uses targeted shock waves to break kidney stones into smaller, passable pieces — without surgical incisions.

For the right stone, it can help relieve symptoms, reduce the need for more invasive procedures, and allow many patients to return to normal activity quickly.

How Lithotripsy Works

Lithotripsy is a non-invasive treatment that uses targeted shock waves to break kidney stones into smaller pieces.

During treatment, the shock waves pass through the body and focus on the stone — without surgical incisions.

Once the stone is broken into smaller fragments, those pieces can usually pass more easily through the urinary tract.

Common Questions

Am I a candidate for lithotripsy?

You may be a candidate if you have a kidney stone that is too large to pass, causing recurring symptoms, or has not passed on its own. An evaluation can confirm whether lithotripsy is right for your stone.

Does lithotripsy hurt?

Most patients tolerate the procedure well. Some discomfort, soreness, or cramping can happen as the stone fragments pass, but recovery is usually much easier than more invasive procedures.

Is lithotripsy covered by insurance?

Kidney stone treatment is commonly covered by insurance when medically appropriate. Coverage depends on your plan and clinical evaluation.
